EVANS, DAVID E. - The Ingenious Mr Pedersen.

Dursley: Alan Sutton, 1978. 0904387291. 1st edition. "The 1880's and 1890's were an interesting period in cycle development with the unstable ordinary or "penny farthing" bicycle giving way to the chain driven smaller wheeled "safety" and a great variety of frame designs appeared on the scene in these two decades. One of the most unusual was the triangulated "Dursley Pedersen", brain-child of an engineer who had other inventions to his credit. Never cheap, and therefore restricted to a wealthy clientele, the cycle aroused considerable controversy among cyclists." Pp.132, black & white portrait photo frontispiece + many further photos and illustrations throughout, 3 maps, owner's initials to front free endpaper. Green cloth, dustwrapper. VG/VG.
